KIT PVP
Hey, everyone! As some of you may know, Salient released yesterday. Upon release, there is ranked and unranked PvP, and in general, it looks like the server is going in a PvP-direction. So building off the PvP theme, what if there was kit PvP?
My idea is simple and really doesn't need explaining, but for the sake of the thread and maybe helping people who don't know what kit PvP is, it's a game-mode where players can choose different classes (each geared toward a specific ability or theme), and they can battle it out in an arena.
Well the obvious question is, "What are the classes?" I'd answer by saying that the classes end up being at the discretion of the Salient developers. I think it's in everyone's best interest to make the classes available for purchase with in-game currency instead of having rank-exclusive classes, if only to make sure that Salient isn't violating the EULA. And also, it promotes an environment where you can work for what you want, instead of just buying it. Anyways, here are a few of my own ideas for what classes could look like:
- GOLEM
The Golem class is geared toward slow, yet powerful and effective, PvP. Golem is equipped with full iron armor (all unbreaking 1), a strength 1 buff, a sharpness 1 iron sword, and the added bonus of dealing 25% more knockback. On the downside, Golem also has slowness 1 and miner fatigue 1.
- BLAZE
Blaze is meant to be a quick and powerful class, that's lacking in defense. Blaze has a chain-mail helmet, and a leather tunic, pair of boots, and leggings. Blaze is equipped with a fire aspect 2 iron sword. Blaze also has speed 1. Finally, Blaze is immune to fire damage.
- WITCH
Witch is the class that players would use to wittle down their opponents through consistent status effects, while at the same time maintaining his or her own safety. Witch has full leather armor (boots have depth strider 1), a stone sword, 2 splash potions of speed 2, 2 splash potions of poison 2, 2 splash potions of healing 2, 2 splash potions of jump boost 2, and finally, 2 splash potions of damage 1.
- SKELETON
Skeleton is meant to be a decent all-around class that takes skill to use effectively. Skeleton has full chain-mail armor enchanted with projectile protection 2 and unbreaking 1, an infinity 1 bow, and a stone sword. Skeleton's special ability is called "trick arrow" and can do one of three things: pull you forward, poison whoever it hits, or cause a small explosion.
- ZOMBIE
Zombie is a medium-range powerhouse that can affect its opponents with status effects. Zombie has a gold helmet and pair of boots, and protection 1-enchanted leather tunic and leggings; its weapon is a sharpness 1 iron axe. Its axe has a 25% chance per hit to poison, desaturate (make hungry), nauseate, or blind opponents. Zombie also has a double-edged sword ability- in daylight, Zombie is weakened and has slowness 1 and mining fatigue 1, but at nighttime, it has night vision 1 and absorption 1.
I realize some of these things might seem a little radical or weird for what most people view to be a vanilla PvP server, but I assure you, the kits aren't set in stone. Those are just some of my general ideas as to how kits might be based, or how they might function. At the end of the day, I'm just suggesting kit PvP as a Salient game-mode, and the kits themselves are left up to development.
